How controversy could be good for your business?

Posted by on 7:27 am in Uncategorized | 0 comments

Controversy could very well be a good thing. A lot of times I meet business owners who try and maintain the status quo. They try and serve everyone. They try to please everyone. And the turth is that you just can not make everyone happy. Jesus was controversial. Sinners loved him, but the religious people rejected him. He was controversial. He did things that were “outside the box” and “not politically correct” during his time. Isn’t the same thing true today? Are you trying to stay in the “safe” box when it comes to your marketing? Are you trying to satisfy the masses or are you looking for those people that are ready, willing, and have ears to hear? Take our branding for example. Some people will get offended, some will love it. We are looking for both because the one’s who love it will tell their friends and the one’s who don’t will talk just as much which will create the “buzz” we want to have. Here are some ways to get outside of the box, create a little controversy and creat some conversation about your business… Do video marketing – unedited and raw! People want to see the real you. You don’t need to have everything perfect. Set up a flip camera or just turn on your web cam and go for it. Capture your business in it’s most real state. Don’t be afraid to be YOU! Stop trying to please everyone. God knew who you were when he made you, so let your personality fly! It will be more honest, more real, and more attractive to your specific group of customers. Get Up and Speak Up! A great way to create buzz for your business is to find opportunities to speak to groups. Again, be yourself! Use creative headlines to draw attention! The more creative and “controversial” your headline is, the more people will talk about it. The headline draws them in and the message keeps them. Be Bold, Be Different! In order to draw attention, do something that is really out of the box. Something that people just would not expect from...

5 Keys To Slaying Your Goliath and Landing More Business!

Posted by on 9:48 am in Uncategorized | 0 comments

Yesterday I was reminded of the David versus Goliath story once again. The Kansas Jayhawks who were the overall number one team in all of college basketball were beaten by small school from the Missouri Valley Conference – Northern Iowa. Arm chair enthusiast brackets were busted from the north to the south as I sincerely doubt anyone had this upset fore-casted. One paper the teams were clearly over-matched with Kansas holding the upper hand – but through it all this small school, Northern Iowa, persevered and won the game. The game wining shot was one that should not have been taken. Anyone who knows basketball, knows that you do not take a risky 3-point shot over running the clock down; however, this young team did just that! They took an ill advised shot against the number one team in the country and the gamble paid off. My question is how does that happen and what does that mean for you in your business? You may be sitting there thinking about your business. You may be saying that you don’t have the clout that the competitors have. You may not have the resources of the big guys in business, but does that mean you are out before you start? Not at all! Here is what it takes to slay the Goliath in your business and win… 1. The Name of the Door is Not the Answer to Your Success! Your success is determined by YOU! Your Heart, Your Desire, Your Perseverance to not quit! 2. It takes Courage! You have to step outside the box and take risk. You have to go into situations that the “other guys” say is to difficult or can not be done. 3. It takes Confidence! When you step out, you need to have the confidence that the strategy you are going to use will work. 4. It takes Ignoring the Critics! You can not win if you listen to all the people who tell you that it is impossible – including those voices in your head. 5. It takes Action! At the end of the day your success is dependent on you. Will you make that next sales call? Will you contact the largest client? Will you take...

To Get the Word Out, You Better Raise Lazarus from the Dead

Posted by on 7:15 am in Uncategorized | 0 comments

We all know that word of mouth advertising is the best type of marketing you can have for your business. The key is to get the word to spread as fast as possible. One of the best ways to set this type of marketing in motion is to do the unbelievable. Your business needs to solve a problem for the client in a way that they didn’t expect. You need to wow them at an hour they believed was lost. If you do this, then you don’t have to worry about the word spreading. It will travel at the speed of light and the result for you will be more customers. Here are some expamples of what I am talking about… If you are a Realtor, sell the home for the most money in the least time when no other agent seemed to be able! If you are a loan officer, complete a loan that others said could not be done! If you are a CPA, find a legitimate deduction that others failed to see and save your client money! If you are a consultant, show your client a way to make more money in less time! Hopefully you get the point; however, in order to really accomplish the miracle your client needs, you will need to make sure you are prepared for the task. Here is what you need to do in order to be ready to perform… You need to be studied up in your business. Know more than anyone else. Spend time reading, learning, and staying ahead of the curve You need to faith and belief that you can get the job done no one else can You need a system that you know will work every time You need to give that confidence over to your client and ease their mind You need to care about your customer more than your profit Now as you go out to conquer the world with your business ask yourself this question… What can I do to solve my clients biggest problem? Develop this solution, get a victory, and the word of mouth will take care of itself! Keep Marketing, Keep Selling, and Keep Making a Difference Tim The Marketing...

Business Lessons from the Pulpit-Leadership Lessons from the Ark

Posted by on 9:20 pm in Uncategorized | 0 comments

We just got home from an awesome service at church. Maybe it is just me, but so often I see a correlation from God’s word to our businesses. I had to take time and share with you tonight’s lesson and my take. Pastor J. Don George of Calvary Church in Irving Texas was the guest speaker and he taught on Leadership Lessons from the Ark. The lessons and principles are Pastor George’s, the comments after are mine. Lesson #1: “It wasn’t raining when God told Noah to build the Ark” which reveals the Principle of Timing. How often do we know that the marketplace is changing but we do not react quick enough. We let fear, intimidation, or lack of knowledge hold us back from changing. The time to make a change in your business is before you are forced to make a change. If you wait until you must change, then you have waited too long. If you need to learn new technology get started today. If you need to get up to speed on social networking, then start today. Don’t wait, because if you do, then you competition will win the customers. Lesson #2: Experts built the Titanic, but a novice built the ark” which reveals the principle of Qualification If you wait until you are qualified, then you may never realize your true potential. Much of what I have learned in business has come by try, try, and try again until we get it right. Experience really comes from getting your rear burned. The part about getting good at your business comes from two words – hard work. No one becomes an overnight success. You don’t need a degree, certification, or tattoo to be qualified – you just need the heart, desire, and willingness to try. Lesson #3: “Cheetahs and turtles travelled at the same speed entering the ark” which reveals the principle of Diversity We need all types of people and gifts to help us with our business. You can not do it all. Get the right people, with the right gifts to join your business and together you can make something great! Lesson #4: “The storm outside the ark was not nearly as threatening as the woodpeckers on the inside” which reveals the principle of location. The economy will be what the economy will be, but what the economy of your business looks like is entirely up to you. If you have negative people inside your company, they can do much more harm to your business than someone on the outsides opinion. There will always be people out to tell you how bad it will be, but it is up to you to keep them at bay and away from your business. Lesson #5: “The storm ended because no storm last forever” which reveals the principle of Duration. If you haven’t landed that big account, or your finances are running thin, don’t give in or give up. Keep moving forward and working hard. Business will have cycles, but in the down time, is when you need to press in and press on. Find a new value to provide your clients, add extra value to the current offer, or find ways to reach more clients. Keep Marketing, Keep Selling, and Keep Making a Difference! Tim,...
