What is the most important part of your business? Do you find yourself getting caught up in problems or possibilities? Here is recent conversation I had with a client about having zeal for the one thing every business must have in order to thrive.
In John 2:17 it reads, His disciples remembered that it is written: “Zeal for your house will consume me.”
I was having lunch with a client recently who was dealing with several business issues from a technical issue with his computers to staffing issues. Really these are the type of issues that any business owner must deal with from time to time. After about 20 minutes of his discussing the problems, he also mentioned sales were down. It was at this point I asked him a simple question…
“What is the most important task you must do everyday?”
After some thought he said, more than anything I need to be developing referral relationships and bringing in new clients.
He hit the nail on the head. Any business can not survive without constant revenue.
So my advice was simple, make sure you have zeal (passion) for the one thing you must do…bring in clients to your business.
Wake up each day with passion for serving your clients. Wake up each day with passion for reaching new clients and markets. Wake up each day with passion for that one thing every business needs.
It was Brian Tracey who said, “Let’s keep the main thing the main thing” and in your business it would be zeal for new and existing clients and referral partners.
